That would be a REALLY old story. Everyone knows how they shoot since they have been around since the Dead Sea was only sick! ;D
I bought a box of 168 grain S MKs today. I will let everyone know how they shoot soon.

Dennis, are you sure that you want to tell him about the 175 SMKs just yet. Do think he's ready?

43.5grns of either 4064 or 4895 is a good place to start.

Five-hundred count boxes for a great price. What's not to like? :D
I would be surprised if thet didn't perform in your rifle, they are the "bench mark" all others are compared to. Yes, give us a range report.

Great bullet. Worked well in every .308 rifle I've owned.Originally Posted by lucy123

The 168g SMK is all I shoot in my H-S Precision HTR rifle, and it shoots them vary well, with either Varget or 4064, but Varget is my favorite. (the 4064 is harder to measure out) The Mfg recommended shooting Fed GMM in 168g, and I did, and it shot quite well, so I dissected one, and found it had the 168g SMK bullet and 44.0g of Varget. And that turned out to be one of my best loads, but it likes 44.5g a little better. With both shooting well under .5 moa. Even under .250 moa if I can do my part. I haven't tried heaver bullets, as the barrel is a 1 in 12" twist, and may not be fast enough.
168g SMK & 44.0g Varget, 24" barrel = 2684 fps
168g SMK & 44.5g Varget, 24" barrel = 2710 fps
Mike.
I have a Broughton 28" barrel on my gun, 1/12 twist. It loves 168's, Bergers and SMK's. For some reason it does not like 175's in any shape or form. It will shot 190 Bergers pretty decent! 155's also! My factory 308 Savages 1/10 twist all love 175's "IN" any shape for form! The 168g SMK is all I shoot in my H-S Precision HTR rifle, and it shoots them vary well, with either Varget or 4064, but Varget is my favorite.
