    Adding Sights to an Axis

I am new to this forum so if this question has been answered before I am sorry, but is it possible to add iron sights to the Axis or is the barrel to thin? I had read a few reviews saying barrels were thin enough to heat up after just a few shots. I do not own an Axis yet just curious, I am stuck between the Axis and the HogHunter any suggestions. Unfortunately I am on a very tight budget with this rifle.

Any competent gunsmith can add open sights for you. Barrel is no thinner than any other manufacturer's sporter barrel and Savage used to offer open sights on their sporter barrels up until just a few years ago.
