    McRee's 223 AI MAGS

looking for info. I am wanting a Mcrees for my 223 but I am also wanting to use AI 10 rnd mags. All of the ones I can find people are using 308 family of cartridges. does any one know if there stocks are capable of this? I have an older flat top receiver and a 16 in barrel wanting to get the compact folder. something I could place in a back pack and take calling yotes.

will the mcrees stock allow you to run a 223 with AI mags?

Yes, it works. I switched barreled actions and use the .308 mags and the aics .223 poly mag.

some what confused on your post can you elaborate. I have been checking this out and let me know if this is right. they are the same external dimensions as a 308 mag??? I originally thought the were smaller.

The 308 and the 223 AICS mags are meant for the same DBM.

I believe maclowry was saying that he's used a 308 barreled action, and a 223 barreled action in the same chassis, along with the corresponding mags for each.

Accurate-Mag actually makes their 223 mags from their 308 mags, and many people mod the 308 mags to run 223.

Get the AICS polymer .223 mags from Midway about 40.00 10 rnd. The Mcrees will accept AICS and Alpha mags.

I have 2 McCrees and love them I wish that I could get a long action!

One is a 223 bolt and uses the AI poly mags. You can set the bullets way out there with these mags, I mean way out there lots of room.
Now do they feed well... not the best if you are in a hurry. going slow works better.
am I happy with it oh yes! It short and compact but I would not say it is light, but that is my set up, you could shave some weight from it. mine is set up for longer stuff.
