Charles, Are you looking for Factory or Hand loads? Often if you look back a week or so you will find something informative.

Here is one thread recently active.

Wish I could tell you but !!!

I have a few hog Hunters, all are in 308 and all have JP Cooley muzzle breaks.

My factory 150 gr American Eagle shoots at 2850+ chronographed. I have not reloaded for my Hog Hunters yet, and since I live in Kalifornia I purchased 150 gr Federal Trophy Bonded Copper and plan on using them. I will reload 150gr Barns for hunting. I have heard very good things about the copper bullets on game. The trick is to use a bullet that is fast, as copper bullets stay together and penetrate much better than lead fodder.

I can tell you that I'm getting about 2850+fps shooting 150gr soft point or military ammo in my Hog Hunter, chronographed using my chronograph at 15 ".

After all my research, you get about 80-100fps loss in a 20 inch barrel compared to a 24 inch barrel with a 308 ... sometimes less.

    A 308 shoots with a 20 inch barrel very well !

The Hog Hunter is one of my favorite rifles Savage has produced in a few years..... it has a threaded barrel, has an Accu Trigger, and has iron sights.

Yes, it does not have the best stock, but the gun is designed for pig hunting at less than 200 or so yards .... and for that it is a great rifle !!!

I will be testing it using Remington UMC 150gr next week ... American Eagle are pure crap as far as accuracy is concerned in every rifle I have tested. I used American Eagle to bore sight this rifle and the stuff is pure crap as far as I'm concerned !

I'm sure this rifle will keep minus 1 MOA if I do my part and have good ammo !

My rifle is set up with a 1-3 Weaver scope, for a large FOV ... I'm looking forward to using her for hunting hogs in the spring of next year ! !

Mine loves the 150gr Sierra Spitzer Boattail over 42.5 grains of IMR3031.

Hope they don't bite my head off... but, if you are looking for 308 accuracy loads, check out Sniper Central forum. Dbl check these, but it seems a 175-180 bullet with 43-44 grns Varget is about tops amongst most. Also 4064. RL15 shows up less, but more than once.

I also talked to an old 308 shooter/reloader this evening on way back from the range. He said his most accurate 308 loads were always mid-level and lower towards starting loads for accuracy. This tracks with Sniper Central feedback and also Waters' Pet Loads.
