    Best Hog Hunter 308 load?

Will be breaking in my HH 308 tomorrow, planning to shoot some M118 clones I made but wondering what is the best load for this 20" barrel? What you guys coming up with? I have 175smk's with varget, imr 4064, imr 4895 on hand.

We don't have your gun, we can't tell you what your best anything is. Start testing, and you will know.
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.

Good idea darkker, I should have thought of that.

What brass and primer are you going to use? I have never heard of that powder, I am guessing you mean IMR 4895.

Yeah Stang, I meant IMR 4895, I am going to try the same rounds I use in my 5 R barrel, 43 gr Varget in a Win or Lap case, this barrel is only 20 inch and a 10 twist so I was wondering if there was some common loads that people were using in this shorty 10 TW barrel.

I have Win, Lapua, and LC cases available but only have 175 SMK's as projos.

175 smk 44.0 gr. varget -.030" from lands.
This shot a .75" 3-shot group in my hog hunter. I didn't work up any loads with varying seating depth because I also tried loads with 168 amax and 155 nosler custom competition that shot better, about .50" 3-shot groups, so I ended up using the 168 amax.

Alliant Power Pro 2000 MR is THE powder to use in the 20" HH medium varmint contour barrel. 47g under the 175 SMK will get you minimum 80 FPS faster than any other powder including Varget and RE15. 2650 FPS out of mine and sub MOA out to 1000 yards.

No. I put it in an HS stock off of a model 12 LRP.
