    Do You Test fire?

After you have swapped a barrel and checked it with a go/no-go gauge.....

Do you test first it, as in strapping it to a leadslead rifle rest and and firing it remotely with a string?

I test it, but not remotely...difficult to aim that way.

I just load it up & have at it so I can zero in the scope.

I don't worry about it... I plan on living forever.

Since I used actual gauges, I was pretty confident it would go well. So I ran with it.

Nope, like the others I'll drop it in the bags, chamber a round then pull the trigger.

I don't bother to use gauges anymore, mostly because I don't shoot factory loaded ammo. All my headspaces are set on the tight side so my brass lasts longer. I know before hand what to expect from my brass and loads. Drop the round in the chamber and fire for effect.
Looking for pressure signs and tight bolt lift. Every load is mid range so I don't expect any surprises. Works for me!

Nope. Fire away. I say if you do not feel safe to fire it then you shouldnt have done the barrel swap yourself.....period.

+1 My test firing involves aiming it down range and lettin' her fly.

Naw I just go the range and say who wants to fire my new rifle! Always a taker.

Seriously there is little danger if you do it right.

This is exactly why I always bring a friend shooting. Just say "oooh look at the new shiny boomstick thing, wanna have a go?" Rarely does anyone say no :D
