    mod to my axis

So i was having trouble while I was at the range holding my head still which caused me to move my rifle so i made this cheek piece.
My cheek piece is made out of maple wood and foam, oh, and duct tape. When I close my eyes and lay my head down confortably, I can see perfectly.

The holes i drilled in my stock so my cheek piece will stay on:

That is what allows me to take off my buttpad:

This is what I put in my buttstock. The allen key will take off my stock. The pliers will do everything else I may need.

    You guys like???

i was thinking about doing this camo to my rifle

You're on the right track. You could also make on out of kydex or use a strap on type. I slide a Choat cheek riser under a buttstock sleave for my long range rig.

    Available at Tactical works....

I use the one in the lower photo Stang put up. It gives me that extra 3/4" I need.
If it works for you, have a go of it. Looks soft & squishy....

    G'morning Stang....

PS - I get them from Southwest Precision. He's a good guy to deal with. I had the bolts get kinda rusty looking & he sent me all new hardware. Then I bought 3 more off him.

    Posting photos

Jared, when trying to post pictures from photobucket, click on the "insert image" link and then insert the photobucket "direct link" code in the pop up window. That way you will get the actual photo, and not just the link to the photo.

It's simply nicer if folks don't have to search for your photos but rather can see them in your post.

I edited your post so they now show up.
    Cheers

    Camo?
It would probably stick out like a sore thumb. A wee bit on the "unconventional side" dontcha think?

Look at it this way. If you like it, have at it.

Here in the swamps you be easily spotted from a great distance.
    otherwise it looks pretty cool....

Edit - I just scrolled back & noticed the stock is camo already. You no likey?

This is what I did before I rebuilt my Axis. Little more efficient. Paint was done by me as well. I had to cut down the $10 screw on cheek riser in order to remove the bolt without disassembling the entire rifle.

I then made a new front end for the riser by using a piece of an old cell phone cover cut and sanded to shape. Used some strong glue to attach it.

To screw the riser into the stock I drilled 5/8 inch holes at the proper spacing and install two metal drywall anchors. It's not going anywhere now after filling the buttstock with bondo body filler.

I think I'm going to put my old stock up for sale next weekend along with the other parts I removed.

Hope this helps you out with Ideas.

It's pretty cool. Personally I'm not a fan of super bring colors, but the fire idea looks sweet.

Best to keep these questions in the classifieds section. Remember stocks can always be repainted. The one in the picture started black. Could repaint right over it without issue.

I only did the stock because I'm going to sell the take off barrel. That is all up to you. I painted the whole thing Tan and then laid dark brown, Olive Green, and Black (for shadowing). All were Krylon Camo Paints and I did not do a clear coat. I did a practice run on some cardboard before I went to work on the stock.
