I like challenges, although I have a backup plan that actually was the original plan. I just always wanted a nice walnut stock, and when first looking the savage stocks were EXPENSIVE. Then someone posted the Numrich link to Savage stocks under $100!
I have a Boyd's Thumbhole Red/Black laminate in 4.27 blind magazine. I ordered the parts from Savage that allow fitting a center-feed magazine shell to a blind magazine. Have a couple of spare 6.5/308 DBM magazines that can donate the shell. Will use a spacer in the back of the magazine similar to the 223 magazine, need to get on that. Thought of using Teflon, but plastic or even wood will work. Then will use a 6.8 follower and the 223 spring.
