Request for help with pillar installation

I got my new Stockys long range varmint thumb hole laminate stock I asked then about putting pillers in and they said it would work great so I resd it all and see that it says drill holes to 9/16th so I start with a 7/16th I start back by the trigger and the the wood towards the trigger cracks and falls out. It's very thin. Can I just build the hole up with epoxy around the pillar? How

This is the best I can tell you to do......You can use a tool to go in and create some cavities and rough spots for the epoxy to grab ahold of in the pillar hole. Ugly it up. Then put your pillars on your action with the screws in it and protect everything with a release agent. Put in the epoxy, use whatever you used to hold the action in tight to the stock(good time to bed it as well) and stand it up on the barrel. When it has set, go in and clearance for the trigger with your dremel. I'll take it off your hands for 20.

You probably already know this but it is good to go slowly when drilling out holes in laminated or any wood when there is a possibility of chipping the wood. It may require increasing the hole size in small graduations or a special tool that is not as agressive as a drill bit. Standard drill bits are designed to pull through the wood acting like a conveyer. Not always a good thing. the 20 was a joke.

7/16 holesaw? Thats tiny! Some people grind the drill to reduce the trailing angle. I've done that for brass but know nothing about wood.
