The Redfield I just got has two of those pre-marked turrets: one for .223 and one for .308. Both give a bullet weight, style, and muzzle velocity for which they were designed. Reticles make more sense to use for rangefinding rather than calculating holdover. JCalhoun is right about a more generic reticule whether mil dot or some sort of MOA. It can be used for both tasks if you know how your rifle performs.
