Trouble installing Rifle Basix Sav-1

Hey everyone. I tried installing a Rifle Basix SAV-1 trigger today and ran into some problems. Before I go and ask them, I thought I'd see if you guys could point out if its my fault or not.

The gun is a Stevens 200 .308

To me it seems like the area where the Weight of pull spring seats is to thick. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for the help!

*Edit: it has the detachable magazine(stays in the stock when the barreled action is removed, so that means it's center feed right? Also, the .308 is a short action right?

You have a 4.4" centerfeed and yes 308 is short action.

Regarding the trigger, what happens if you put the spring in and then try to install the trigger? Same deal? You may want to give RB a call. Clay will take care of you.

With the spring in you get the same result. I didn't have it in for the video because you have to compress it to get the pin in and I was doing everything with my off hand so I could record it without shaking too much. Thanks though, I've only posted here once and got a great/quick response so I was hoping to hear quickly if it was my fault or not before emailing the guys at Rifle Basix. I've had bad luck lately when emailing vendors and wasn't sure how long a response would take.

I just went through the same thing. The place that holds the spring on the trigger is hitting the bottom of the saftey switch. Two options. Grind down the part that is hitting the saftey or return the trigger. I returned the trigger. Clay helped me out and returned the trigger and informed me they had a lot of reports lately about the problems In some Stevens 200.

2002celica, I appreciate the feedback! I emailed Rifle Basix this morning, and if they confirm what you've just told me I'd actually be happier than if I got the wrong one. I don't mind taking off a little material, it does look pretty straightforward, to avoid shipping delays. Hope to hear from them soon!

Just wanted to follow up. I talked to Clay and he mentioned that in the past month they have had quite a few of these. They are going to try and get it all sorted out soon, but in the meantime he says that the SAV-2 is working just fine.

Here's what he did for me, and I think it's it excellent customer service. He's shipping me the SAV-2 with a return package. After I instal and test it, I can decide if I want to upgrade to it for more than 50% off the difference between the 2 triggers. At that point I can ship back both for a full discount or just the SAV-1 for the discounted upgrade.

I realize things happen, and I'm pretty happy with the way Clay handled it. He said I may have the trigger tomorrow, or Monday for sure. Either way, after I test it out, I'll report back. Just wanted to update in case anyone is considering buying the SAV-1 right now.

Ok, final report.

I installed the SAV-2 and it works perfectly. I don't plan on hunting, I'm just using this rifle for target shooting and I've got the trigger pull just under 2 pounds.

Sav-2 is a FAR superior trigger anyway. The Sav-1 is nothing more than an accutrigger with out the safety of an accurelease and a sear engagement adjustment (a cheesy one at that).
