Dont have a clue.
Would like to be able to see 22 cal holes at say 200-250 yards on a high vis target, but also clearly see spotting and scoring disks at 600-1000 yds in optimum conditions.
Want to keep the cost down for now, like maybe $300-$500, because I dont know how long or if I will stick with long range target. I really enjoy chasing hogs around more but there is a 1000 yard range close to the farm.
So far I have looked at the redfield 20-60x80, Nikon prostaff 20-60x, and an Orion Apex 102mm Telescope which was mentioned in a 6mmBR article. If I stay with it I would upgrade later to a high end spotting scope.
Right now I am sort of leaning towards the Orion since its pretty compact and about $230-$280 and no CA but not sure if it resolves enough at those distance. It is advertised as resolving 1.3 arc sec. Included eyepiece is 52x.
i went with the konus sport 20x40x100 mm it heavy but but i'm able to pick out 223 holes on a mr-63 target @ 300yds and can see my hits on steel @ 700yds as well as disk @ 1000 with it set me back 300 and another 35 for a vivitar tripod (its beefy) for ground use while shooting prone it works nicely on my bushnell tabletop stand . another i have looked thru is a yukon 6–100 X 100MM its pretty good
I got a Vortex, the 20-60x for around $350, and I am very pleased with it. Their customer service is outstanding, also.
I have a Bushnell Trophy. It's not as nice as some but reasonable in price. Clear enough I can see .22 at 300 yards, .308 at 400 yards on a target and the spotting disks at 1,000. However, at 1,000 was not as clear as a friends Nikon on the same day. Price was right at the time.

I got a vortex nomad 20-60X. Found one at basspro bargain basement place for $200. I have seen 223 holes at 400 yds with the right lighting.
Some buddies of mine have Konus spotting scopes for NRA Highpower that work quite well for the money.
I bought a cheap $100 20x40x60 starts with a c from optic planet on the Internet, spots .308 holes in plywood at 580 yards. glass is a little dark ....
I've been seeing quite a few recommendations the last year or so for the Celestron Regal scopes, which are in your $$ range, albeit the higher end. Several site have them listed sub $500.00 for the 65mm version. I've read quite a few reviews on the various sizes on some of the birding forums, and they seem to get some good marks, especially considering their price point. In my readings, the birders are seemingly quite finicky with regards to their optics. I am hoping to get my hands on one this summer for some prarie doggin.
I have been looking at a Regal 100mm.
Vortex Viper HD. The HD Vortex glass is much improved over their previous glas.
