Most chassis systems are at 1K or more and for a range stick they are great. A couple of our newer rifle systems are utilizing them. Any of the better stocks (McM, HS, B&C and the custom guys) are going to be around 5 or 6 hundred and up to and over 1K.
When we build a rifle it goes this way;
1. If you can't see it or don't like the way you see it...you can't hit it.
2. If you are uncomfortable while in position your bones and muscles will tell you about it...you'll miss.
3. Almost all OEM quality action and barrel combinations are more capable than the operator.
So in order of how much money you spend on a build it's;
1. Optics.
2. Stock or chassis.
3. Action and barrel.
And just a P.S., If you are wanting a "range" gun or you're thinking about competitions later I wouldn't sink any money into a .270.
