good inexpensive scope to shoot 100-200 yrds

looking for something I can use to shoot mostly in the range from 100-200 yrds... Im in a pretty tight budget so the cheaper the better, as long as it works and is reliable

check out the vortex crossfire line. Great scopes and well worth the money. You can get into a great 6x20 for under $200. They offer lower powers for less as well.

I've been using a 6-20 50 Simmons Whitetail classic on one of my rifles for the past few years now on one of my bench guns. I can usually make out 6mm holes at 200 yards with it. You can find them online for roughly a $100. For me its biggest fault is the short eye relief.

Check out the Pentax line. A fixed power 6X should do just fine for those distances and a fixed power scope is more rugged than a variable due to less moving parts in the tube. Plus they are cheaper than a variable power. I got one from Cameraland (they advertise on this website.) a 3-9 variable. They sell display models from thier store with a new scope warrenty. Those are scopes that have been handled by customers in the store. I paid $89.95 for mine and it is a decent scope for the money. I have had a Pentax camera for years and as one professional photographer told me "they are the best kept secret on the market".

See if this one will work. I have the 36x version, and a buddy of mine just picked this one up. Think he said $83 to his front door, have to admit it is more clear at the top end than my Vortex Crossfire 8-32x50. Oh, and my buddy has it mounted on a .308, and so far it is holding up just fine. For the $$, I think it is a good deal.

Save your pennies and buy some Good Glass... your Eyes and pocket will thank you later. Cheap scopes are expensive.

You need to be more careful if you end purpose is range usage. What I'm telling you is a scope for range usage needs to be more accurate than a hunting scope and that's stretching a definition, meaning if your scope holds within a few inches during firing you can still hit the vitals, punching paper you will never know how you are really shooting.

You best bet is to quit the idea "I only have X dollars to spend" slow down, save and then get a decent scope.

All you ever wanted to know about how scopes rate:

    http://www.opticstalk.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=16515

Of those, w your budget, you're probably going to be here or below:

Bushnell Elite 3200, Leupold VX-II, Millet Tactical/Buck Gold, Nikko Stirling, Nikon Buckmaster, Sightron SI & SII, Vortex Crossfire & Diamondback, Super Sniper Fixed

Burris Fullfield II & Timberline, Leupold Rifleman & VX-I, Leatherwood, Mueller, Nikon ProStaff, Simmons

    Barska, Sightmark, Swift, Truglo

    BSA, Tasco, Yukon

    ATN, Leapers, NcStar

I've got a couple Nikon Prostaff 4x rimfires. The turrets are solid and so are the adjustments. They hold zero well. I have several vari-x IIIs so I'm not just a cheap scope guy, and the Prostaff's are good for the money, especially from SWFA's sample list.

jaxxx, I've been there. moneys tight I know, what I've used on a budget is the Simmons whitetail classic. for the $100 you can't beat it. as for as below that never used one but Midway has a sale on BSA for less than a $100. I alway's read their reveiws, gives you an idea on some products.

I have the bushnell dusk and dawn on my 30-30. I got it on sale for under 100 bucks. It worked all right. I got 3 pigs and a doe, all one shot kills. I use hornady leverevolution ammo in that rifle. I have been in inclement weather and it held up great. I'm actually not planning to replace it anytime soon.

Try a Bushnell Trophy. They can be bought around $80.00 and will perform well. One of the medium to high ranged scopes in the Bushnell line.

Can't beat a cheap scope like the simmons I bought one to put on a 22 rifle and after getting it I tried it on an Encore 6BR and that is where it still rests. Midway USA has them on sale. I believe you can get what you need for under $80 bucks + shipping, used alot cheaper as I did. i have numerous high dollar scopes, but I was amazed at the clarity of the Simmons. Lou
