    Changing a .30-06 Stevens to a 6mm Rem.

    Hello All.

Does anyone know if the 6mm Rem will feed through a .30-06 action without any modifications? I have a Stevens .30-06 that I am considering converting to a 6mm.

    Thanks

It will work easily. The 6mm Rem case is just enough longer than the .243/.308 that it should feed fine.

My first build was a Stevens 200 in a 270 that I converted into a 6mm Rem. worked just fine. Tim

Thanks very much for the replies and information.

I've been looking for a couple inexpensive Savage/Stevens for projects. Fortunately, I located a couple of Stevens 200's for good prices. One in .270 and the other .30-06. The .270 is slated to become a .280 Rem and the .30-06 a 6mm.

I have not had any problems with 243 or 308 feeding from a long action with SF or CF mags. 22-250 on the other hand.....

Anyway, the 6mm Rem should be at its best in LA, with no restriction on how far out you can seat bullets, you're good to go.

Yep, what they said! I shoot a 22-6mm on a centerfeed DBM long action.....works great with those long high bc 22 cal bullets.
