Will the manufacture that made the barrel not re-contour it?
The problem with re-contouring a barrel is that you can easily ruin the crown
Hi Folks,
I have an aftermarket stainless barrel that is full contour and my requirements have changed and I want to reduce the contour to a heavy varmint or maybe a little lighter. Who would you recommend I contact to do the work? My local guys do not have the taper attachments for their lathes to do the job or they want as much as a new CBI barrel would cost to do the job. I don't know what a fair price would be for this work but if it is all that expensive I will probably just get a new barrel from NSS. Any input/help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking,

Another problem is inducing stress in the barrel causing possible warpage from removing too much metal. If I was you I would sell it and order the contour you need all finished.
