Anyone try the 6.5 Carolina load.

Did some searching trying to find info for using h4831 sc. I came across the Carolina load with 44.3 grains of h4831sc and 140 grain bullet of your choice.
I was surprised at how it worked out with hardly any load development.
Had 2 groups under a sub moa and 1 under 1/2 if it didnt have the flyer...
Average velocity was 2740 with Sd from 7 to 14.
This is for the 6.5 Creedmoor

Sounds about right... I get 2771 with 42 grains of H4350, Lapua SRP brass, 140 ELD-Ms in a 25" barrel. 3/8" groups with single digit SD as well.

    I'm stickin' to my R-16.

I did experiment with H4831sc early on but in my barrel I was crunchin'
powder to get up there, and a bit dirty. Just too slow of a powder for
the Creed to suit me. Some of the guy's I know have been playing with
6.5 Staball with decent results but loading well beyond mag lengths.

I'm not looking to shoot a mile so I don't need 2900fps. Found something that I can shoot small groups with and at lower velocities

I don’t recall the charges I ended up with when I developed a load with that powder, but I do remember getting some great accuracy and consistency with moderate velocity. That being said, I’ve found accurate and consistent loads with a wide variety of powders for the CM. Varget, RL16, H4350 of course, Hybrid 100, RL26, 6.5 StaBall, and probably several others I’m not thinking of. Its a very forgiving cartridge to load for. I fear no powder shortage with that one. For the 4831 and RL26 I tend to use the larger capacity brass like Hornady instead of the Lapua I typically use to squeeze a little more in. I found better results with moth of those with magnum primers as well. One thing that is nice is you cant get enough of either in the case to get over pressure from my experience. My hunting load uses the RL26 with a 134gr mono at just a touch under 2900. I don’t recall the charge offhand, but I have to vibrate each case with an electric tooth brush to settle powder before I seat bullets. Its a Lazer though, and the 50 I made after development will last a lot of years.

Just for kicks, try it sometime.
Better yet start at 1500 and see how that goes first.
