6mm Match Bullets for Factory Rifles

There is a lack of specific match bullets in the 6mm / .243 diameter, at least for non-special twist rifles. Sierra makes the 70 gr HPBT MK and Berger has a couple of entries. So, what other bullets would approach match quality accuracy, for this diameter? I'd like to stay under 90 grains. One hunting bullet, which shot really well, for me, 25+ years ago, was Sierra's 85 HPBT Gameking. Maybe I'll try it again. Anyone have experience with the accuracy of Hornady's 65, 75, and 87 gr V-Max's?

I have a fair of amount of experience with both the 75 and 87 Vmax in my 244 (1:12 twist 6mm Rem). I think they are excellent bullets for the price. I use they for varmints of all sizes. However, I wouldn't classify them as "match grade". I have some Bart's 66 Wedge bullets I got from Bruno;s that shot excellent in my 6BR. They are $135/500. I have seen people win BR matches with them and other Bart's bullets. Fowler makes a great 6mm bullet. With the dominance of the 6PPC in BR, you have many options to choose from. I have heard great thinks about the new Berger "column" bullet and would recommend you try them.

    Luck in your choice, Tim

There are more match grade bullets available in 6mm than any other caliber and few of them require "special" twist rates. With the 90 grain limit there isn't much concern about twist with factory rifles. I've had good luck with 75 and 87 grain Vmaxes but the 60 grain Sierra HP is the most accurate non-match bullet I've ever used. I've shot 105 Amaxes from 10"(advertised) twist BRs, I wouldn't hesitate to try them in a factory 9.25" twist 243.

Without a single doubt, this is why the 6mm rule.
