Hello everyone,

I'm new here, new to bolt action rifles and excited to have a brand new Savage 10 FCP-K (18608). I went to the range today to zero it at 100 yards, and wasn't able to fire it even once.

What happens is that I pull the trigger, you can hear (and feel) it click... and that's it... I did this several times, with different rounds, working the bolt, but nothing... It looks like the firing pin doesn't even hit the primer. There is absolutely no sign on the primer that it was hit. (The safety was off).

I took the bolt out and the firing pin does protrude, but maybe not enough? I will contact Savage on Monday, since they don't work Saturdays, but I was curious if anyone has any idea what the cause could be.

I'm sure that eventually things will work out well, and I look forward to shooting my new rifle, but for now I'm bummed. I'll have to most likely cancel a long range rifle class in two weeks... unless I get lucky... Any ideas? Thank you.
