    Fred's Flutes

Tonight, I recv. My two bolts I had sent to Fred for fluting.

Thought maybe you would like to see them.

My photography skills & camera don't do justice to the bolts colors. I only know how to upload these from photo bucket. If that's not a good choice, please advise me.

Told Fred to surprise me on the color's of each bolt. Make them the same or different, & what ever color he thought would look OK...

    I have a VLP stock.

He made the 223 bolt Gold, & the 22-250 bolt black.

1st class work. I'm a very happy customer.

    Thanks Fred

It looks great and obviously a lot of good machine work, but I not sure what the point is. Does the rifle shoot better or is it just bling?

probably "just a bling", as I have not shot it yet & don't see where/how it would increase accuracy.

I guess a person could call any thing done to a rifle a "bling", such as stainless steel base, rings scope, different stocks, etc. I guess any comestic feature could be called a "bling"

    just a different look

I just put one on order today -- Fred guaranteed me it would turn any gun I put it on into a .25 MOA or better shooter. Theoretically they make for some smoother bolt cycling through debris or over shells, but in reality for me it's "bling" as you said. something to make your jeweled savage bolt into a custom looking one.

    Re: Fred's Flutes

I just checked out the SSS website and don't see the bolt fluting offered under "Gunsmithing Services". I have a barreled action going in for a true and time and a new stock so I may want to add this to the job. What are the details?

    Thanks
    Frank

Don't get me wrong.....I like "bling". I was just wondering if there was some improvement involved that I didn't know about.

    Re: Fred's Flutes

Just got mine today (pics thread) Talked to Lisa and told her fluting should be on the website. She says it will be updated after the shot show.

call or email them and request the fluting. Prices will be quoted then, or look at Freds post about bolt fluting a couple pages back. he quoted prices there. Good time to do it with a T&T.

    Good luck
To flute your bolt body...$45.00.....w/powder coated flutes...$50.00
To purchase a fluted bolt body...$70.00...w/ powder coated flutes...$75.00

A "Bug Hole" with a Savage is a bug hole. When it has "Bling", does "Bug Holes" and beats the $shit out of the high $$ rigs, Yes the "Bling" does make it shoot better! ;D

My bolt should arrive at Fred's today for the fluting and a matching tactical handle put on. Black/yellow to match the new laminated stock.

Man every time I see that I get closer and closer to ordering that service when I send it in for T&T.

Especially with black powder coat in it. looks great. I had first asked Lisa if they would do helical fluting about a month ago and she sent me the pic of the "fishnet fluting" and it must have been a pic from his testing phase or something. the flutes weren't nearly as deep or as wide. but that is beautiful.

    That's it I'm giving him a call. :)

Fred may of not known it, but he made my bolts with the colors of my NFL team

    The Sixburgh Steelers

    Gold & Black

If a person wants to "dress" up their rifle, this is a great way.

his craftman ship is , as I have said, 1st class.

I believe this issue was covered by another post. "Very, very, very expensive tooling costs to do these. BUT...send SSS an email to doublecheck.
