You need a short action magnum bolt head, a firing pin assembly (I think) and probably a magazine.
You can get all of that from SSS.
what is needed to convert my standard short actions to a wsm rifle other than the barrel? if this is even possible?

Don't the WSM's also need a large shank action? Standard is probably small shank.
MOST WSM barrels are large shank, but they did make a few small shank, and most barrel makers will make them small shank.
So, you can bore out your action for a factory barrel, or have a barrel turned down and rethreaded.
I even know where a factory large shank 300 wsm barrel is.

you may find somebody that will swap you for a WSM action. They come up on the classifieds from time to time. I think there might be a couple on thier now.
