ETA: I should proofread before I submit. Stock cutting...lol
For those that have cut their Axis stock to get a shorter LOP...did you just use the rubber recoil pad or did you purchase a new one? I cut my stock about 2" shorter and I measured the stock to be 4.5" x 1.5" I see that Limbsaver offers some slip on recoil pads. Has anyone used a Limbsaver? I will probably call the company tomorrow to confirm that I should order the small size, but I wanted to get some opinions.

i have used them and the slip ons work really great. doesn't look as nice as fitted pad but works great!
I cut my stock down about 1 1/4"--but the height of the stock pad will be taller than the stock since the stock narrows as it gets closer to the trigger. No biggie--I simply added some epoxy to smooth the line and painted it over on my 308--which I'm taking out to fire and zero for the first time since rebuilding it.
This is my first time cutting a stock and the new LOP feels better to me. I'll probably just order the small Limbsaver and call it a day. I'm going to be refinishing the rifle and stock, so maybe no one will notice it as much.
Went to WalMart this morning and they had the Winchester branded Limbsaver in small for $22. Normally, I see this recoil pad online for around $30 plus shipping, so I was happy that it's less expensive and in stock at the store. It fits perfectly to my recently cut Axis rifle.
Aubie515, can you post up a pic or a link to your rifle with the new pad? Thanks in advance!
Exactly how did yall cut back the stock(what tools)?
