So I decided to try a different load from the factory match ammo and hand load a few. This is a brand new 12 LRP with 81 rounds down the pipe before today. We loaded up a batch of factory spec 140 grain A-Max (with the exception being the primer - I used CCI 200 large primers instead of the Federal 210). I then used 5 Sierra Match King 142 grains with the same exact loading specs. Look at the results at a laser confirmed 100 yards! That's 2 x 2 bugholes and 1 in between.
So the exact load is this:
Once fired factory brass, sized as usual - neck tolerance about 3-4 thousands based off the Hornady 'standard' dies - not 'match' dies, no internal neck mandrel sizing
CCI 200 large rifle primer
Hodgson H4350 powder - 41.5 grains +/- 1/10th of grain
Sierra Match King 142 grain 6.5mm projectile
COAL = 2.810" (exactly factory spec - interesting)
I have done absolutely nothing to this rifle. No bedding, trigger bone stock, everything bone stock. I am amazed by these results. I can only hope the 142 SMK will perform as well at 4/5/6/700 yards.
The factory match ammo clone shot well at about .75 MOA but the SMK's were amazing at this distance. It could be that the two will even out as I stretch the distance but ****...the SMK's blew me out of the water. What a great starting point for a cartridge and rifle!
If anyone is on the fence about the accuracy of these rifles in 6.5 Creedmoor, jump on the train. For reference, I shot between .5 and 1 MOA with the factory load. The SMK's have improved that considerably at 100 yards. I'll post back with more info once I get to the range and stretch it out. Who knows, the factory load could be better at longer distances...
Edit - I have to give credit - it was not me shooting this group, it was my amazing shooter friend. I can only hope to shoot these types of groups in the future. Fortunately, he's taken me under his wing.

EDIT - this was off a wobbly portable bench. Off a real solid concrete bench this could be better. This was with a Harris 6-9" bipod and a good rear bag but the bench was suspect IMO.

To be honest, it's my buddy who shot this group, not me. He's a much better shooter than I am, but I'm learning. I'm currently a .5-1 MOA shooter out to 600 yards. I'm just glad the weapon platform is capable of getting there. Know what I mean?

May I ask what load you are using? If it's a competition secret, PM me. I'm just staring to work up some hand loads for this rifle and I'd love to hear some options. I've been thinking 123 SMK might also be interesting but from most accounts I've read the 120 A-Max is crap. I'm initially sticking to the 140-class projectiles and just working on case prep and powder charge.

He has posted his load on the creedmoor site I thing its 41gns h4350 under a 139 scenar .
My LRP mirrors your results. Factory 140AMAX loads make small groups. The SMK (loaded to book length) is slightly worse than my hand loaded 140 AMAX, but both make the smallest groups with 41.5 gr H4350. I live close to Sierra and buy their blems really cheap. So once my AMAX is out, I'll probably play with my OAL more to try and get the 142SMK groups a little better. My rifle has nearly 900 rounds through it, and is still shooting like it was at 50 rounds.
The 120 Amax shoots really small holes as well running book lenth, and 44.5gr H4350. I havent tried the Varget load.
The 95Vmax doesnt shoot as well, but runs 3300 fps, and shoots right at MOA, slightly under.

Great review in this months Gun Magazine with about the same findings but then I guess we all know Savage has it right.
Good to hear!! My "new this past summer" .223 M-10 Precision Carbine is one heck of a shooter. 5 (yes five) 69gr. Hornady BTHP in a 100 yard half-inch group. Yeah buddy!!!

For what it's worth, the 12 LRP shot a .25 - .3 MOA group at 700 yards. Again, my buddy shooting, not me - 4 shot group at a laser ranged 700. That's a spray can lid...I'm sure you know how big that is. FROM A FACTORY RIFLE! No bedding, no custom work, no trigger manipulataion at all.

Is that the .25 -.3 MOA at 700 yards target? I can't tell how many or what MOA on that steel plate, were you spotting the hits?

Yes, that's .25-3 MOA at 700. It's not scientific but that's a standard spray paint can lid as the red dot. Yes, I was spotting for him but to be honest - he doesn't really need it. The guy is a hell of a shooter. I'm just posting it to show that a bone stock LRP can get it done at 700 as well as anywhere in between. I personally shoot good groups at 600, but the wind is a factor between 6 and 700. That's where my shooting buddy shines - he can read the mirage and wind better than I can at that range. But I'm still learning. Which is the point of me buying this rifle, lol!

Has anyone tried any loads with accurate's Magpro? I pulled this off their sight and looks pretty spectacular as far as speeds. Am considering using to work up some loads after im done with the barrel brake in on my new M12 LRP. any thought?

You may not get many loadings out of your Hornady brass. I toasted some trying to push 140VLD's. I get 2850 easy with the Hornady box load of 41.5gr H4350. Ive got some pretty loose pockets after 5 firings, but nothing coming out the back yet, so I'll give them a couple more firings to see how it goes.
I'm forming some Lapua 22-250 brass tonight, I may donate 10 of those to see what brass life is like when pushed.
with that kind of speed though I think I would be willing to buy some extra brass if I get 5 out of each piece of brass thats great, they call for win primers, but Id be loading with cci bench rest, anything that says winchester on it and doesnt costs over $60 scares me, poor quality and inconsistancy seem to be go hand in hand with a lot of winchester products now, exept their rifles.
all together too many choices with this gun, was originally looking at Swifts 130 gr scirocco II, cause it boasts a .571 BC. but that seems far fetched,would havebeen the best of both worlds for me as I would have liked to been able to hunt with the M12(yes I'm aware of how heavy it is lol). pretty much settled on the Hornady amax or BTHP
Good round and good shooting--I plan on adding more rifles in the 6mm family....
