Anyone use wc846 for 30-06 or .270?

I just picked up a jug of WC846 to reload .308 and .223 I also would like to use it for .270. As the .270 uses the 30-06 case I was hoping it would work for the .270 as well. Basically I am told I could use BLC-2 data for the WC846, less maybe 10% to start on .308 and .223 loads.
My question is do you guys think I could use 30-06 load data for loading the .270? Starting low and working up?

Any input would be great!

I have found that the jug i got a couple of years ago was closer to H322 than anything else. It does shoot good in my 308 but haven't tried it in the 223. Son-in-law also uses it in his 338 federal. I am sure you can find a load but as it says start low and work up. Do NOT assume it will cross with BLC-2 data.

oneshot, I am UNfamiliar with the powders and cartridges mentioned in your original post. However, I would be afraid to substitute various powders of various loads in similar (BUT Different) cartridges. Playing that kind of guessing game with unfamiliar powders is just asking for trouble, in my opinion.

My sugestion is that you follow the recommendations of the experts: Purchase a good reloading manual and/or go to the web sites of various powder manufacturers and follow their caliber and bullet specific recommendations for starting loads with their powders. Better safe than sorry! 'Nuf said!

100% agreement - if you're not sure, don't use it. Published, tried & true load data only. Creating a controlled explosion 3" from my face is enough of a reason.

As a self proclaimed 30'06 affecianado, I always did very well with 4350. The .270 always has liked 4831-sc. The .270 & 4831 went together like soup & sandwich. They just did so well together. Even after rebarreling, I found 4831 still was the accurate powder only 2.5gr less.

Another reason I like using the Lyman book. The selection of choices for each caliber covers a good range of slow to fast powders. If one doesn't do it for you, there's options to go slower or faster.

I called Hodgdon and was told that BL-C(2) was not suited for bullets heavier than 110gr in .270. I did not ask about WC846. So it looks like I will only use it for 90 to 110gr bullets to plinck with, I only punch paper any more any way.
I have several manuals and check online and do not use a load I am sure of, I was just ask for input from more experienced hand loaders.
