Mach2 ; you thinking shims between the pillars and the action?

1s1k ; I have thought about the recoil lug, i can find no evidence of contact in the condition of the stock in that location, or the condition of the bluing.

devildogandboy ; I'll try clearing up under the lug first, before I try anything else. I'm all for leaving as much stock attached as possible at this point. if it gets replaced or bedded later then thats a different story.



I don't know how to identify contact I cant see. only by seeing marks on the stock/action. I was thinking of something I could apply to the stock that will change, when contacted by the action/lug/ whatever touches it.

Thank you for the suggestions. i'm going to continue messing with it today sometime. I'm thinking about taking more of the stock at the rear action screw, where I had contact in the first photo. (area shown in the third photo).
