floating barrel ?

Will a deeper float allow the barrel to cool better..
My heavy barrel is so I can get 4 sheets of note
book paper under it with ease,except at the forend.
Do you think that should also be the same? It is now
2 paper thinkness....

Any time you can get "MORE" circulation, heat will transfer faster.
If you aren't talking about forced air movement, or based on wind speed; I don't know what the differences would be.

I took Homer Simpson's approach and made "Speed holes" in most of my stocks. But I shoot much more than most folks.... And the wind is ALWAYS blowing here.

well..I was gonna do the Homer thing as well,but wasn't sure if the
holes would screw up the stock..Maybe I will leave it alone for awhile..
I shoot a lot as well..Maybe it aint a lot..But like today,I was at the range twice.
80 in all..,,

Do what you do my friend, To me the esthetics of a a rifle mean VERY VERY little.
They do look... not pretty as I have done it, but as I say; looking good wasn't my goal.
