I tried to stain my Boyd's chestnut laminated to walnut with dark stain. Didn't take very well, probably due to the glue in the laminate. If you try, I would suggest letting it dry pretty good prior to sanding and do it multiple times to take.

A natural stain might darken it up a bit more without harming the other colors. I used natural to bring out the colors more when I used to do a lot more wood work.
Other than that I am not really sure what might work without harming the other colors. Anything that darkens one will darken the others.
