    Torque on the stock..

I am under the impression that 40-60 ft lbs of torque on the bedding screws is the norm. Or would it be 20lbs for the front and 15 for the rear? The latter seems light to me, would appreciate any inputs.

Also the tang of the action should be free floated, if I have read correctly, or am I completely confused?

    Thank you in advance.

yes the tang should be free floated. and no 50-60 FT lbs is wayyy to much. more like 50-60 INCH lbs

I think 50-60 in.lbs is OK if the stock has metal pillars (like most Savage factory stocks). If it is just wood or plastic without pillars, then 50-60 in.lbs might crush the stock material.

    Re: Torque on the stock..

Does removing the stock and putting it back on affect my scope zero much?

I know that it has to have some effect but just how much?

This is my hunting rifle FC11 in .243 and I know I will never get the torque the exact same as the factory. How much of a concern is it?
