    Ordered Yesterday

Yesterday I ordered a Savage 11/111 Hog Hunter in 308. Today I went ahead and ordered Nikon MONARCH African 1-4x20 with Warne bases and rings. The week will drag by, but glad I have a job because now I'm broke lol. I have her now. I hope the wife will let her sleep with us tonight

Please post your thoughts on the Nikon MONARCH African 1-4x20 once you try it out.
I am building a .458 Win mag and trying to figure out what scope to use.
    Thanks and best of luck.

Robin, the only thing I am worried about is the scope choice, due to the field of view. You would be better off with a 2-7x40 or something like that to be able to see the pig up close in time to shoot it. Well anyways welcome to the brotherhood of the barrel nut and congrats on your new gun.
Willing to give back for what the sport has done for me!

Thanks Jon, but I don't hunt hogs any more. My ticker just had some repair work. I wanted a short barrel 308 and I love Savage so it was a no brainier. Then the open sights are a plus that's why I went with the QD rings.

I hid my 25.06 under the covers when I got it. The lil woman came to bed after a long day, whipped the covers down to climb into bed - Lo & Behold!!! The rifle fairy had visited & left me a new Edge in a caliber I've been wanting.

So, after my visit to the proctologist, the rifle still shoots well but I had a little trouble sitting at the bench for a few days......

Good luck with the new toy. I know you didn't go wrong with the glass & rifle.

Enjoy..... And DON"T put it in the bed. Women do not find the same things funny that we do.

I got to shoot it some. Not enough to really evaluate the rifle. Took about 3 shots to get scope sighted in. We were shooting 1-2 inch groups at 100 yards with factory ammo. A buddy of mine is working up some different loads. Hopefully next week there'll be less overtime and more shooting time.

We put 200 through the rifle this morning and it is wicked accurate. It really like the Hornady 150 grain Super Performance. Good tight groups and the Nikon Scope is great.
