Like my boss used to say "The only difference between the difficult and the imposible is the cost", go for it. Or you could have Jes reboring open your 30-30 barrel to 38-55.
i have owned half a dozen model 340 rifles over the last 20yrs. a couple i refinished and gave to grand children or my kids. I have been thinking about threading a blr and converting one of my 30-30 rifles to 32-40 and or 38-55. i have threaded a mauser barrel on my lathe. and i think i have a 8mm blr that is big enough in the shank that i can cut off the chamber and thread to a 32-40 (actually an 8mm-40 but a couple thousand of an inch shouldnt matter much.) anyone tried this or have a comment on why it shouldnt or couldnt be done. argie1891

i wonder what the cost would be to have it rebored? but i kinda want to thread the blr more or less just to see if i can do it. got a hunch i can do it.
