I swithched a soft recoil pad from a Stevens plastic donor stock to a mod 10 PC.
It had a hard pad also
I just put a grind to fit limbsaver on a boyds stock 22-250 rem and it is amazing, better than any others I have including pachmayer
What's a good recoil pad for a Savage with a plastique stock? I happen to notice my smaller caliber rifles have nice soft pads & one of my '06's has a hard rubber recoil pad. The rubber is so hard it's reminds me of the steel plate on the butt of a Mosin Nagant.
Not exactly what I need after a couple shoulder surgeries over the past 10 years....
Even the recoil pad on my Edge is softer than the 30.06.
Anybody want to recommend one? The softer and squishier, the better.

+1 on the Limbsaver. On such a lightweight rifle they make a world of difference.
I've had guys at the range mention Limbsaver, too. I guess I'll be looking into one.
I thought of maybe tying on pillow off my bed... from the wife's side of course. She got a little miffed at my idea. Can you believe the nerve of that woman....
I'd like to know where her priorities lie. Just once.

Take a look at:

Thanks thomae! Good information there. I did notice the pad I have on my .270 stick to my shirt. I've almost pulled it off the bench a few times!

Instead of your wife's pillow, you could try one of these.

I have two. Good for extended sessions or load development.
I bought this one originally for me: http://www.battenfeldtechnologies.co...d-Ambidextrous
Later on, I purchased this one for my daughter: http://www.battenfeldtechnologies.co...ield-for-Women
The Limbsavers tend to take on a distortion if you store the rifle 'butt down'. I have used all three and they all seem to be about equal on recoil reduction.
Ya know... While doing a little reorganizing in the gun room, I noticed I have a old stock with a real soft recoil pad on it. I'm not sure what model it was but it's pretty soft. Since it's free, and here, I believe I'll have a go at it. I'll see if it passes the sticky shirt test next weekend.
Thank y'all -
