    ACTION ID

I picked up a SF short action the other day. The guy said it was a savage. It is a flat black almost parkerized, with the old style trigger. I believe the guy but how do you tell the difference between a Savage and a Stevens?

Many times Savage or Stevens wil be etched on the bolt body. Unless it's marked, there really isn't any big difference between Savage or Stevens that I can recall. Is the bolt dark finish too?

If you go to Savage's site and put your serial number into the parts finder it will tell you what model it is. I'm sure there is a more technical way of doing it, but that always works for me.

    Stevens are ALL round back.
What you have is a pre-accutrigger 10fp. It is parkerized.
