i have a mcqowen 223 barrel 8twist that was short throated to only shoot 69gr heads and under well i wanted to shoot 80 pills in it so i gave it and a dummy round for the smith to legthen the throat on it for me simple job he said 20 bucks and he can do it while i wait. wife took it to him and he did the work except instead of going 2.430 coal or 1.881 to the ogive he bored to 2.648 coal .now the bullet just sit barley in the boat tail. i called him up and cant understand how it happened but told me he will make it right even if he has to buy me a new barrel . so the question of the day is should i get a 223 wylde or stay with my origonal plan and have the throat legthened for the bullet i want to shot(lapua brass 80 grain amax head seated 1.881 ogive?) ?
