My Budget 6BR project is done

Hi All, My project is done and hope to take it to the range on Sunday.
    Before:http://images5a.snapfish.com/2323232...57965337nu0mrj

    After:http://images5a.snapfish.com/2323232...77949337nu0mrj

This started life as a 112v single shot in 243. My gun smith had a used kreager 1 in 14twist 23inch bull that he fitted to the action. I had him bed the factory stock and he sold me a used weaver T36 scope. I bought a egw mount and Burris rings. I ordered new barrel nut, recoil lug and bolt handle from SSS.

When it was all said and done, with a shotgun trade for the 112 and selling of the factory 243 im into this for about $1200 for the whole package..
Now to make some rounds.. ;D

With the 1 in 14 twist, you'll be limited to bullets in the 60 grain range. It should be a great prairie dog buster or 400 yard bench rifle.

Ya, My gun smith is a former IBS President as well as IBS champion. ( Bob White) so he only deals with benchrest barrels most of the time. He told me what you did before he started the work. My range is only 200 yards so i went for it. I also have a 12fv in 308 for the longer shots... ;D

Well, I can say that BOB (I truly respect Bob for what he has done and who he is.) is a bit wrong on the range. The 6PPC will shot competitivly out to 300 yards, and can even do well out to 600 yard in a 1 in 14 twist barrel with 68 gr bullets. (Seen a couple of people do it.) At one of our club matchs they have a 400 yard winner takes all 1 target tightest group, and there is a fellow that has a 1 in 14 twist 6 BR shooting 68gr Knight bullets that has one it a couple of times betting out tuned 6 BR in 1 in 8 twist, and other "long range" calibers. One time he actuly shot one of the tightest 400 yard groups I have ever saw, he had 4 shots in under 1/2 inch, and the 5 was out to about 1 inch, with a group that was around 1 1/2. So dont think your that limited with a 1 in 14 twist 6 BR, now granted if I was shooting 600 yards I would prefer a 1 in 8 twist BR, but out to 400 yards I have seen little diference.

Ya, Bob said I would be good to 4 to 500 yards if I need it. But like I said I shoot out to 200 most of the year. Once a year to 300. I have 58g a-max's in trying then will try 68g's next...
