    bolt etching

Is there any way to remove the "Savage" etching from a bolt from an older 110 action other than jeweling? I'd like to refinish a bright bolt to one with a more matte finish.

    Thanks,
    Brian

I just polished the logo off with emery cloth, or polishing compound and a wheel, then bead blasted it to a matte finish. It was the second one I tried, The first stayed polished. It was easy.

I was able to remove "Savage" from an older bolt body w some thorough hand polishing. But my newer "Stevens" logo won't give up the ghost even to buffing wheels on a bench buffer. The black fades, but I can still see the etched steel w/o the coloring. I figure you'd have to take off material in that spot to clear it up, and I'm just not doing that.
