A standard box won't let magnum brass up high enough for the bolt to catch. A magnum box won't keep 30-06 brass in the box.

I have a 114 centerfeed with a DBM, originally in a 30-06. I am considering swapping this to a magnum caliber.
Is this LA bottom metal(270/30-06) the same size as one for a mag caliber(7mag/300wm), or is the entire bottom metal different(longer)? I know i would need a new magnum magazine, but was wanted to make sure that I didnt need the entire bottom metal.
What say you?
