Timney is a good choice for a hunting rifle, or even an older Savage 3 screw trigger. There are better choices for target shooting.

SSS (Sharp Shooters supply) is the only one you'll ever need.
Not to hijack the thread but would you please elaborate on better target triggers?Originally Posted by EFBell
He means that if you were target shooting you could get a Rifle basix SAV2 trigger or an Evolution or Competition trigger from SSS. These triggers go down to a very light trigger pull, which is too light for field use. You could use these triggers though and adjust it up some(except for the evolution, which is a bench only trigger) to make it safe to use in the field, then if you ever change it to a bench gun you'd have the trigger already.Originally Posted by Q.T.Hush
I would recommend either the Competition from SSS or a Sav1 from Rifle basix. Both of these are around $95 and adjust from 12oz to 2.5 lbs..
If you dont wanna spend that much, then look for a used take-off factory adjustabel 3-screw trigger or call SSS to see if they have one in stock. These run around $25-35, and can be safely adjusted to around 2.5-4 lbs.. For a budget hunting only rifle this is probably the best deal.
