    .223 ai

so what brand do you recommend? thinking a 24 inch chambered in .223 AI, would like to shoot 40's (rarely) 50-55's (very often) and 60's (more often than rare, but not as much as 50-55's. What twist would you recommend? Thanks!

Nearly all the brands I'd recommend start out at $300 and more. Douglas, Brux, Shilen, Criterion, ect and many more.
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Ok, I suppose 300 is within range. I should note too that I wont be benchrest shooting or anything, but do enjoy seeing at least half inch groups at 100yds. Mainly a prairie dog/coyote gun....and the occasional range session...

I have a factory Savage 223 Rem barrel that I had rechambered to 223 AI. It has close to 4,000 rounds through it and it will still shoot under 1".

I would also look into a factory take off and have it rechambered. They can be had for $75 - $175 depending on color. length and contour.

I was at the same point you are about 2 months ago and ordered a 24" 12 twist 223AI it will shoot every thing up to 60 grains well and should have a little more velocity than a 9 or 8 twist.

I have a Sinarms barrel with 1/8 twist. I use 52gr SMKs in my fire form loads and it will shoot .5" all day.
