    Another nek coyote.

I shot this beautiful young male coyote with my weather warrior model 16 in .243 Saturday morning. He came in to one series of fawn bleats blown on a closed reed hand call.

He is a very nicely furred coyote, compared to the mangy ones that I have been mercy killing for the past two years. I hope that they are all wearing such nice fur this year.

that does look like a really nice fur...

about how many yards did you take it at? where'd the bullet make contact? and what kinda damage to the pelt?
    Couple rf's, couple cf's, and 1 12g.

    Everything I once held dear
I count it all as lost

I shot him at about 100 yards. I hit him square in the chest. There was a quarter sized entry hole and no exit. He was facing straight at me. I was surprised that there was no exit and little damage. I was shooting federal 55 grain ballistic tips. I skun him out and rolled the pelt up and threw it into the freezer. Most coyotes that I have shot with this combo end up with fist sized exit holes if not shot threw the ribs. If a shoulder bone or veretebra is struck the damage is extensive. The fact that he came in for the fawn bleats just verifies what they feed upon. You can see the entry in pic.
