    Model 12VLP .204 to 338 Federal

I have two Savage VLP 204s and want to switch one to a 338 Federal. Can this be done?

Besides the barrel, what bolt parts will I need and where can I get them? Also can I get a new staggered box magazine and carrier because of the bigger cartridge?

Try Midway USA or Brownells for the parts. You will need a bolt head and new extractor as well as ejector. Definately will need a new magazine. I assume this is a staggered feed rifle. Instalation is easy for those parts. To remove the old magazine take a large screwdriver, put the blade up against the top of the magazine that faces the muzzle and give it a little rap. It shoiuld pop the magazine out of the dovetails that hold it to the receiver.

Don't forget a new front baffle (one without a dogleg) if yours has one.
