I have been shooting the 168 gr Berger vld hunting bullets out of my 7mm rem mag model 110 for a while and have been absolutely blown away by the accuracy. However have killed 2 deer with them this year and found damage to be just a lil excessive. Decided to go with a bullet change to hopefully salvage just a tad more meat and settled on the 160 gr Sierra gameking. My train of thought was the heavier grain bullet would not be as explosive as the lighter bullets and still expand on deer reliably. Anyone have any experience with these on deer? Also seems these are often fairly accurate as well from what I've seen overall with the gamekings. I am using retumbo powder, Winchester mag primers and cases and am hoping to get 2950-3000fps. In my train of thought it should be a killer load and cheaper than the vlds. Am I being unreasonable in any of my goals? The bergers shoot consistNtly under .500" most going .450" or less just like chunkin a grenade in these lil deer I'm shootin. Also I have a 24" barrel so I know I'm giving up a lil there in the velocity department. Thanks in advance for any info or opinions.
