    stevens .308 win

hi guys, i just bought a brand new stevens .308 win. until i have the money for a build, what loads are working best in the stock stevens? think its a 1-10 twist, 22" barrel. what grain bullet and type, and powder?

    thanks

I would try some Sierra Matchkings, 175 gr., and some Varget powder. With a velocity up around 2600 FPS, they should pretty good. As always, safely work your way up for a new load.

    45g IMR 4895 with Hornady A-Max 155g SST.
They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

my 116 i just sold like 168grs out of the 26" tube. i have never worked any loads up for the 22" barrel. i will be going to a 20" 1-10 twist on the build. so will these work for the 20" also. this is my first shot barrel .308. how much velocity will be lost say from the 26" down to the 20"? what will it be leaving from the barrel, if any body had work up loads for the short .308s.

My FP with a 24" pipe launches 175 SMK's just under 2700 fps. WLR primers and Win 748.
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.
