    Reloading 25-06 AI ?

I have started loading for my 25-06AI and can't seem to find a lot of info about it. So far I have used reg 25-06 info and moved up in small moves. I am at 59.2 gr. of RL-22 with a 100gr. Sie. MK. I have just started. I have 2 regular 25-06 and really like them and I think this AI wants to shoot pretty good.

    Thanks ahead of time, Gordon

I have no personal experience with that round, but here are some tips in general.
Start with regular 25-06 data, and move in 1/2 grain incriments.
Measure PRE-fired, and POST-fired case-head expansion. That will tell you when you hit pressures that are getting to high.
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.

    Re: Reloading 25-06 AI ?

I have one and have just added 5% to published load data for standard 25-06 as my max AI loads. All mine worked well this way with only 100gr Sp load of 62gr of Reloader 22 showing any pressure signs. If you go to the rifle section of the reloader nest website they have alot of loads. BUT, beware alot of the loads on there are hot.

Thanks for the help. Darkker I had just about decided to do that and check for other signs of pressure. I was surprised there was not more info out there
    as many as there around.

    Thanks again

    Re: Reloading 25-06 AI ?

    Hey there bythebook,

My 25-06ai has taken a liking to 115gr Berger vlds

Necked down Lapua 30-06 brass, neck turned then fireformed using whatever 25-06 load floats your boat
    59.5gr reloader 25
    Federal 210 primers
Berger 115 gr vld seated to 3.300" oal (puts me just off the lands)
    3330fps

Best group so far was just over 2.7" at 1030 yards with three shots
And had a five round group of 4.6" a day later at the same distance

This is a pretty stout load for this gun so I would start at about 54 grns and work up
So far I have got 8 reloads outa the Lapua brass and no lose primer pockets yet

The one thing I did run into was donuts at the neck shoulder junction on the Lapua brass
I think it was from not turning the necks far enough into the shoulder before fireforming
And I just ended up re-turning the necks again further onto the shoulder after resizing letting the resizer button push the donut to the outer surface of the brass

    Orch

    Re: Reloading 25-06 AI ?

P.O.A. didn't think much of the 25-06AI as most of the increase in case cap. was ate up in reloading just getting back to the vel. level of the 25-06. He considered the 06 case as overbored when necked to 257cal. If you look in his red book "Hand Book For Shooting And Reloading" you can see that he thought that the full lenght 06 was not worth Improveing till it got to 7mm cal.

But he did not have the powders we have now.
I also love my 6-06 ackley with 70 grain at 4200 fps

Exactly, that is no longer relevant. powders like RL25 & Retumbo have changed all of that.
