    6 Dasher Dies

I have decided to build a 6 Dasher instead of the 6.5x55. I use a Forster shoulder bump die with my 308, but they don't build one (except special order) for the 6 Dasher. What die setup do you 6 Dasher shooters use? Thanks, Lucus

Redding Type 'S' F/L bushing die, Redding Competition seater.

Hold onto yer shorts, cuz Redding charges thru the nose for non-main stream cartridges. Might be better off getting one from Forster - might take longer, but be the same or less $$$. I haven't checked what they charge for that sort of thing lately.

I believe that Lynnwood Harrel is now making Dasher dies.

Thanks for the info. I have had no luck with bushing dies from Redding, I know others have had success, but I'm a little gun shy on them. When I get the rig put together, I will give the Harrel's a try.

If Harrell's is makin' them these days, I'd say definitely give 'em a try. I asked when I built my Dasher (2008?) and they wouldn't do it then. If they are now, I might have to give 'em another call...

Memilanuk, Do you have case runout issue with Redding bushing dies? I tried 3 different Redding bushing dies for different carridges and had runout up .009 with them. I also bought a bushing for my Forster 308 bump die and had .003 runout with it. Cases before sizing were at 0 or .001 runout before sizing. I left a little wiggle room for the bushing per instructions, but no luck. Did I miss something?

    Re: 6 Dasher Dies

I let the bushing float (more than a little bit), I let the die float (either in a Forster Co-Ax press, or w/ a floating die ring on my 550), and I use the floating carbide expander ball. *Usually* I get runout around 0.001", even sizing down Winchester .308 Win necks from .343" (fired) to .329" (sized neck before loading bullets), which is a bunch. For my Lapua stuff like 6 BR or 6 Dasher w/ a .272 no-turn neck... almost zero runout.
