Why did Savage go to the 1 in 9.5 twist,in the 243 cal?

    1/2 twist wont do much.

I would guess something in manufacturing.

Maybe not, but I seem to recall reading some folks were having trouble with getting 100gr bullets common in factory hunting ammo to consistently stabilize in 10-twist 243s; that extra half-inch might take the inconsistency away.

Presuming there is a cost involved with a manufacturing change, I'm not sure why they would change from one twist to another without a good reason (the 7mm08 twist debacle notwithstanding).
