Ok Guys starting a new Build. I went and purchased the Stevens 200 in .270 as others have done on here. I have been reading that the new mag well is centerfed and is hard to get a stock for. never the less I will be putting a 25-06 barrel on it and trigger.
here it is today.

Since you have a long action the screw spacing is the same for staggered feed as it is for centerfeed so you can use a staggered feed stock but in order to make the magazine work you will have to inlet the L clip and shim around the magazine well so it holds it tight

do you recommend epoxy on the shimming? what do you mean when you say L clip.

One piece of advice, use a barrel no shorter than 26" for your 25-06. The 22" factory barrel is like putting skinny tires on a drag racer.

I planned on that. This will be my first Build and first 25-06. As if I needed more irons on the fire..........

If you'll take you action out of the stock you will see the silver L clip that sits on the rear pillar. Once you get the correct amounts of shimming then yes I would epoxy it to the stock

There are a couple of LA Duramax stocks in the WTS area.

You will have to pay the $12 and become a paid member to see that part of the forum though

I just finished transferring my centerfeed 270 mag to a stagger feed walnut stock. I used pieces of crafts "popcicle" sticks front and rear to hold the magazine in the mag well of the stock. I cut the front piece the length of the mag box to the lip and glued that to the front of the well. The rear piece is the length of the "L" bracket and is glued to the rear of mag well. The sticks gave the needed tension to hold the mag in place. Worked perfect and rounds feed w/o a hitch.

BrentWin I have 2 25-06's one with a 22 " barrel and a 112 BVSS with a 26 inch barrel. The 22 inch has been giving me 3400+ with no pressure signs and RL-22 and 100 gr.Sie. I have had time to Chrono the BVSS yet but bet it not much faster. I have had the 22" longer and it shoots great with 100 and 75 gr Sierras.

Stocky's stocks has a several stocks for the LA centerfeed. Look at the tundra thumbhole and the heritage clasic sporter style laminated stocks. They are inletted for centerfeed long action 110.

Mainly because of new powders and better bullets you can really make a 25-06 shoot real good. And if you use a high quality barrel you can have a nice tight chamber and get phenominal accuracy out of it.Then you buy lapua 30-06 brass and neck it down and turn if necessary to get the right neck thickness. It may use more powder but the performance outweighs the extra cost of powder.Have fun and maybe you just gave me an idea to make my long action into a 25-06.I havent owned one yet but my friends love them. You can also ackley improve them for more performance or just the fact of the steep shoulder will make brass that almost never needs trimming.

finally got it back. seems to have taken forever. Here she is with the 26" magnum contour ERshaw in 25-06. The stock is next to go. need some ideas since it is the CF P-O-S. Maybe go with a detachable mag.

here it is now with a boyds stock. replaced the plastic trigger gaurd and bolt handle with ones from midway. weaver one piece base and mounts. I put my trusty VXIII that I have had for years on it. so next is a good bedding job and a little Krylon and Ill be set. I set out to try my hand at a budget gun and I think i did it. Everything except the scope it self cost me right at around 550 dollars little less. I didnt sell any parts or use any deductions.

179.00 gun
99.00 stock
199.00 barrel
57 for the bolt,trigger gaurd,base,
8 for the bases at the local have all store.
