I searched the forums and did not find a sufficent answer.

Does anyone have tips on a good place to buy non-OEM mags for the rifle I have? I looked on Savages website. If the mags they have aren't sold out, they want an arm and a leg for them. Not cool at all.

I bought the Savage Arms Axis II XP Package 57095. Is that short or long action?

Any tips would be appretiated.

Also, is there any difference between the mags in the Axis and Axis XP II?

Is this compatible with my rifle?

No, that is for a 10/110 short Action. Not the Axis. Unfortunately, I believe you are stuck with factory Savage mags FOR the Axis.

All Axis receivers are the same size and are technically a long action. The stock cutout will be sized for the appropriate magazine. Axis mags have a built in release tab so the one you mention will not work.

Sure.. and also, it’s clearly advertised as being for the Savage 10/110 Short Action. I typically go by that.

You need one of the PN# /252XX series. What caliber do you have I can tell you which one.

And no matter where you buy them they are $40-50 ea.

Yes, I see that now. I missed it on first look.

No after market Axis mags? Sounds like a business opportunity.

Excellent, that makes it easy.

I found this in the store. It's the only one in .308 that says it's Axis compatible.

Yeeeup! That’s the one. Unfortunately you got the most popular selling Savage there is! So...good luck finding another mag anytime soon.

Indeed... I know the feeling....The Google FORCE is strong with this one!

It’s not looking good though. Rounds this, but not sure I’d trust it.

I found this as well, which is very interesting. Out of stock, but I’d surely keep an eye on them.

Hey, cool, that is like that sticky thread detailing on how to DIY this kind of mag. Very nice.

Yep. One of the little things that is aggravating to Savage owners. And could be fixed easily if they chose to spend a few cents.
