Masterpiece Arms BA Lite production "PRS" rifle uses a Savage action, why would they use this action?

Because it's cheap enough to build within the production class requirements.

The new Savage short action stealth uses a chassis system that accepts AICS style magazines and is already threaded 5/8-24. If you are set on Savage for the production class I would start their.

The MPA variant has a Bergara barrel that will out perform the Savage factory and is in a much better chassis. That would make the cost difference worth it to me in the long run.

Or wait for the ashberry in the fall.

LoneWolf I agree but the MPA has its own limitations for example the LOP cannot be shorter than 13.5. That just doesn't work for me.

Contact them if you're really interested, I bet they could fix you up!

Something as simple as a thinner recoil pad because the one they use is pretty fat.

I did and was told no shorter than 13.5

Would the MPA be considered a rifle that would fit into the Production class rules? I guess I just assumed they intended it to be R700, Savages, Rugers , etc.

Yes it fits the rules as a factory rifle from MPA and is within the $$$$ guidelines. They specifically designed it within those guidelines.

LOL, I understand the price requirements. The question was about the reliability. If the Savage actions are no good in the heat of battle, why do you think they wouldn't use Remington actions? They could get them just as cheap!

They have both, so the consumer has the choice!

Really? I only see the Savage action listed under their "production" rifle.

Thought I saw rem700's as well either in a FB post or on their website.

Never mind it was the following link to build off of a 700 or Savage action.
