I have an LRPV in 22-250 which shoots like a dream but the only disappointment is the synthetic HS stock it came with. Dont get me wrong, the stock is very functional and good quality for a factory stock I guess if youre into synthetics but I have always preferred the lasting beauty of a hardwood stock and being from Canada and the rarity of nice hardwood stocks for Savage, I have decided to make my own from flamed maple and walnut. Hope people will like it.

Build time 50hrs.

I was hoping you built it with a Dremel. Maybe then I would have a chance to build one to.

I dont know with dremel but the first time I made a stock I only used chisels, rasps and a ton of sand paper[emoji16]

Love it HTechworks! If you wouldn't mind - any specific tool suggestions?

Looks like you simply are not afraid to start removing some wood! Like the inlay in the grip area, was surprised at the stippling step with it.

I laminated a thin piece of maple between 2 pieces of walnut-cross grain for rigidity in the grip area. That whole area in the grip is acTually a block of laminated wood. just ground a piece of 6" spiral nail to use for the stipling and dremeled the borders. From experience it is much safer to inlet with chisels but tedious. Putting it on the mill is faster and cleaner but scary because you cant afford to make any mistakes.
