One of my favourite hardwoods but not when it comes to working on. Chips very easily.

Amazing woodworking... don' worry about the knot; that's one way to prove its not a mass produced piece and makes it truly one of a kind. What kind of tools do you need to do something like this? Would assume a table saw, band saw, router and a ton of various sanding and chiseling tools?

I guess all you need is patience and something to cut wood straight. Router for the mating surfaces especially the rounded joints and wood rasps and files. I used a vertical mill to inlet the action and barrel channel but it is not necessary. It helps though to speed up the process but I have done it with chisels and gouges before with success.. Just alot of patience.

If one doesn't have a vertical mill probably could use a drill press with forstner bits... get nice flat bottomed holes bored out then chisel out the rest... regardless amazing woodworking and great finished product

Thanks. That's what I do even with a mill. Drill holes with forstner bits first to get most of the waste material out then clean it with an endmill. Much efficient and safer that way.

htechwerk, I know I'm late to this party, but WOW. You sir, have some very serious machining and woodworking skills. I like to work on firearms but do not have the skills you displayed. Take care, John.:(
